Sparkling Spiced Cherry Cocktail, perfect for Thanksgiving

by Courtney Schultz

How is Thanksgiving only two weeks away? We won’t be hosting this year, but as I get ready for the holiday (which comes right on the heels of a little family getaway) I’m thinking ahead to a fun cocktail contribution. Fun fact: Stockton’s signature holiday move is to come up with a holiday cocktail and bring all the fixings and trimmings to the host’s house. We’ve had everything from sweet and boozy candy cane martinis to rich and warm bourbon cocktails and everything in between.

This Thanksgiving, I’m whipping up something that’s equal parts bright and grounded. The vodka and fizz give it a nice bubbly feel and the spiked cherries bring in a warmth that only a whiskey garnish could. Locals, you MUST go to the R Bar at Ruth’s Chris and ask bartender Jessica to purchase a jar of her boozy cherries. They are a bar STAPLE for us. But if you aren’t local and still want to try this, I found an awesome recipe from The View from Great Island and it sounds like a dead ringer for Jessica’s.

Add ice to a lowball crystal glass. Add a shot of vodka and pour in 1 ounce of spiked cherry juice. Add simple syrup to taste and top off with Prosecco and cherries for garnish. If you’re feeling a little extra, skip the simple syrup and instead, rim your glass in sugar and throw in a sugared sprig of rosemary!

We can’t wait for a cozy and relaxing Thanksgiving with our loved ones, and hope you have a beautiful day counting your blessings.
