Subscription programs you need to know about NOW

by admin

I have a deep love-hate relationship with subscription boxes. I’ve tried SEVERAL in the last handful of years and some are WINNERS, while some are complete duds. When I owned my business, I even created a subscription gift service for customers who wanted monthly products from our company. So not only do I appreciate subscription boxes from a consumer’s point of view, but I have a fairly discriminating eye about the whole process since I’ve also been on the other side of the marketing, development and execution of subscription services as well.

SO have I earned some subscription street cred yet? I sure hope so, because today I want to share with you not one, not two, but THREE subscription services you may have never heard of before; one for the ladies and TWO for kids. Disclaimer: These are all services I have tried and not only loved, but loved enough to share with you all here! The links provided in this post are affiliate links, so if you decide to shop from them, just know I may get a little commission at no cost to you, so shop on, shopper friends.

TrendSend by Evereve

OK, hold the phone. When I discovered TrendSend from one of my favorite online stores, Evereve, I was totally intrigued. I HAPPENED upon the link to this program on their website while I was browsing some new Fall rigs, and lo and behold, I done struck gold. Evereve“>Evereve is awesome, first of all. I love their stuff, I love their mission (it’s a brand of super cute, ON TREND clothing, selected and curated FOR MOMS, but definitely for the fashionable mom who wants to look good while still doing all the mom things she’s gotta do). Can I just say (and we all have seen our fair share of fashion-blogger-moms who post this sort of image)that there is nothing remotely realistic or intriguing to me about a mom standing in front of a $2000 baby stroller with strappy high heel sandals and perfectly distressed boyfriend jeans with her YSL crossbody chain bag casually slung across her trying to convey “Oh, just out with my accessory of a child on a low-key walk downtown with my sugar-and-dairy-free-iced-latte. NBD, I WOKE UP LIKE THIS.” Evereve“>Evereve is not for that mom (and thank God, because I am not that mom, so WHEW!). Evereve“>Evereve is like, ‘Hey you wanna wear joggers (or as I have nicknamed them, Day Jammies)? Let’s do that, here’s a cool t-shirt to put with them and a quality denim jacket. Oh, and add some New Balance kicks because they’re easy but cool. There, you’re ready for the playground and you are comfortable, but at least you aren’t just wearing the least-dirty pair of yoga pants on your closet floor. WELL DONE YOU FASHION MAVEN, YOU.’ It’s just a clothing company that fits my lifestyle and I’m down with that.

Oh, and did I mention EVERYTHING is on sale this weekend for Labor Day?? Yes, every little thing.

Obviously at 7 months pregnant, this is a curious time for me to be starting a subscription box for clothing that caters to the un-pregnant woman. HOWEVER, I’m over maternity clothes and I’m ready to prep my wardrobe with items that are fresh and new once this big ol’ body is back to being single occupancy. So this is my early attempt at eyeballing sizes (and hoping for the best) and looking forward to wearing things that I haven’t attempted to stretch across a 7-month bump yet.

Subscription details:

  • Head to Evereve’s website to browse and see for yourself if their clothing is something you’re interested in (remember, it’s alllllll on sale through September 3!). If it is, click this TrendSend link and begin.
  • You’ll complete a registration and style profile so they can get to know you a bit.
  • You get to choose from 3 different style profiles to see what matches your look best (I liked them all, so I just asked for a mix). You also get to set your price point, so what you’re willing to spend is what they will send you (I think the prices went from around $40+)
  • Why it’s better than competitors: NO STYLING FEE! This, alone, is reason enough, BUT I have tried other clothing subscriptions including some very well known services, and I just think the products that Evereve is sending are higher quality, better brands, and more on-trend than others out there.
  • You can choose to receive shipments monthly, every two months, or on demand. I’m in it for monthly frequency currently just because WHY NOT!? If I hate everything, I send it back without penalty. It’s so low pressure, it’s just fun.

Rating: I give this service 5 shiny stars!!!

Mac Popover Plaid Tunic / Ankle Skinny Jean with Scalloped Hem / Caged Tank / Cleaned Up Moto / Faux Leather Camo Legging / Striped Ruana

Also, check out some of my other recent purchases from Evereve below while you’re shopping their Labor Day Sale. These are all Fall pieces I’m LOVING like this killer camo blanket scarf (come to mama) and super cozy cute striped tunic. I love these booties, too (they have such a Joana Gaines feel to them) but they’re a bit more of a splurge. I have these slides and L O V E them; they look good with everything from distressed jean shorts to a chic all black ensemble for evening. CLASSIC.

Kiwi Co Crates

This company is so awesome. Last December, my parents got Navy a Kiwi Crate monthly subscription for his birthday and it’s been so fun for them, my mom just keeps renewing it! Every month when the box arrives, he is so excited to open it up and take it over to Mamie’s house to do their little science project together. The kits are all mostly science and art-related at his stage. He has done projects that taught him about plant growth and photosynthesis, physics projects that taught him about kinetic energy, a fun mystery box that had invisible ink activities, he built a periscope (which, as it turns out, is more than just a washed up social media site!), and so much more. This is seriously awesome, people! He’s learning SO MUCH, and the kits are so thoughtfully and creatively assembled to make it easy to do the projects with just a little assistance from a grown-up.

Knox received a sample shipment of their Koala Crate for ages 3-4 and it was a fun musical activity where we built a little xylophone together. Age appropriate, the project only takes a few minutes to assemble so it’s within their attention span, and everything is colorful and intriguing. Plus who doesn’t love the thrill of simply opening a package and seeing something NEW?

Now Kiwi Co has come out with SIX different subscription programs that you can join between ages 0-16. They literally have something for everyone. I gifted my niece in California with the Doodle Crate last Christmas because she’s a talented little artist and I wanted to give her a gift that kept on giving long after the holiday was over. The six available categories and ages are:

  • Cricket Crate (0-36 months) | “Explore and Discover”
  • Koala Crate (3-4 years) | “Play and Learn”
  • Kiwi Crate (5-8 years | “Art, Science and More”
  • Atlas Crate (6-11 years) | “Geography and Culture”
  • Doodle Crate (9-16 years) | “Art and Design”
  • Tinker Crate (9-16 years) | “Science and Engineering”

Rating: Navy and I give this one 5 stars!

Mac and Mia

This one is like TrendSend but for KIDS. I first was introduced to this company by one of the company’s stylists who I went to college with. She reached out and told me she was a new stylist for the company and would love to put together some boxes for my kiddos, so I jumped at the opportunity. When I received our first Mac & Mia“>Mac & Mia shipments I was instantly hooked. It’s like the Nordstrom children’s department just jumped in a box and was delivered on my doorstep, if I can compare it to any one store. The stylist worked with me so closely as to find out if I like to dress my kids in matching clothing, or if I preferred to maintain individual style profiles (I’m a little bit of both, so she sent a mix with a couple matching pieces and lots of nicely coordinating outfits!). My kids have worn their Mac and Mia clothes so much that I really feel we’ve gotten a lot out of it.

There is a styling fee with the Mac and Mia boxes ($20) but you get that $20 applied toward your purchase if you keep just two items, and we kept WAY more than two items from each kid’s box, so that didn’t seem like an issue to me! ALSO if you decide to keep EVERYTHING, you get 15% off the entire shipment. Sometimes if you’re even slightly on the fence about just one item, that 15% discount pays for the item in question, so it’s just worth it to keep it all and consider the on-the-fence-item a bonus!

Placing Sign up and request a box“>Mac & Mia in the subscription blog post is slightly misleading because even though it’s a styled box program, it is not a subscription because you simply request a box whenever you’re ready for a new one. You could get two per month or you could just get one and decide you’re all set for a few months. No obligation to renew or cancel at any time. Just order as you wish. I really appreciate that no-strings aspect of it because let’s face it, my kids just don’t always need new clothes. Between hand-me-downs and my occasional “go ahead and look like a gypsy street performer and see if I care” attitude, they ain’t wearing brand spanking new fashions all the time. But when the time is right, I love this service for sending high quality kids clothes that unfortunately just aren’t available locally at the moment.

If you decide to Sign up and request a box“>try out a box (and I hope you do!) ask for Shannon to style you (enter ShannonR as the stylist code when prompted)! She’s my college pal, mom of two (a boy and a girl) and she knows kids fashion inside and out.

Rating: 5 gold stars.

I hope you loved reading about some new subscription services to try, and I hope that some of these are brand new to you! It’s always fun to discover something new. If you have a subscription service you’ve tried and loved, I want to hear about it! If only I received more happy mail and fewer doctors office bills, then all would be well in the world (amiright?).
