Energy Bites Recipe

by admin

Have you been following my FASTer Way to Fat Loss journey at all? Possibly via Instagram, or maybe you’ve gone so far as to join me on the journey and you’re in my private Facebook group! I’ve loved the community we’ve created and continue to share; I think it may be my favorite part of the whole lifestyle!

One thing I’ve shared often on Instagram stories and in my Cheat Sheet (a free gift I provide for all who sign up for FWTFL through my link) are Fat Bombs. They’re a satiating, sweet treat for our low carb days and a great way to pack in a few healthy fats. But it was long overdue for a REGULAR Macro Day equivalent. I know there are at least 11 million recipes out there for energy bites similar to these, but this recipe came together through my own trial and error, so even though the idea isn’t unique, this exact concoction is! I hope that you read these simple instructions and are inspired to create your own version! Don’t be like me and postpone trying it out of intimidation. If FWTFL has changed anything in me it is my creativity in the kitchen. Sure, I throw away a LOT of botched recipes (particularly smoothies just just ain’t right). But I would never discover the keepers if I didn’t experiment, and I hope you feel encouraged to do the same. Not everything you whip up in the kitchen is going to be groundbreaking, perfect, or even *that* good. BUT the more we try, the more we learn about flavors, textures, measurements, etc. as it pertains to both health AND flavor.

Another thing I’m noticing about myself is that I’m getting a little…. crunchy. I don’t even recognize myself, and I don’t want to lie and tell you I’ve ditched all the processed foods. But I’m really paying attention to labels a lot more than before, trying to eliminate artificial sweeteners, and appreciate the REAL flavors that REAL foods have to offer. This recipe is high on all of that good stuff. It packs a good amount of carbs AND healthy fats, but you could modify the fat content by increasing your oats (just be careful they don’t become too dry which will make them crumbly) or eliminating the chia seeds. The peanut butter obviously contributes to fats, as well, but these are the good kinds so no shame in our macro game!

Court’s Energy Bites

(Yields 13 bites; 108 calories, 6.2 g Fat, 11.4 g Carbohydrates, 3.3 g protein)*

  • 1 cup dry Old Fashioned Oats
  • 2 TBSP Chia Seeds
  • 3 TBS Mini Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 tsp Truvia baking blend
  • 1 TBSP Organic Honey
  • 6 TBSP All Natural Creamy Peanut Butter

Blend together all ingredients and form into roughly 1 TBSP balls. Place on parchment paper and refrigerate before eating OR store in freezer. I like to eat mine straight out of the freezer but you can let them come up in temperature for a few minutes to soften before eating if you prefer.

*My exact macronutrients and servings yielded are based on my exact brand of ingredients. Yours may vary, so be sure to use MyFitnessPal to enter your own recipe if you decide to make it and you’re tracking your macros!

BONUS! Not only are these a healthy treat for ANYONE, but they’re a great little bite for nursing mamas! Our milk loves oats and these are full of all the healthy things that contribute to a healthy milk supply. Merritt approves this message 😉
